Josh started his athletic career in a variety of sports including volleyball, baseball and football before turning his focus to track and field later in high school.  After garnering some attention he chose to pursue track and field, more specifically pole vault where he represented Canada at the Francophone Games and later the decathlon.

After ending his track and field career once he graduated, Josh moved out to Calgary and worked for the Calgary Flames before his bobsleigh career. Josh was introduced to bobsleigh through a very unconventional path.  One day playing rec league slo-pitch he was approached by a bobsleigh coach and was asked if he would be interested in coming to an ID Camp.  From there he joined the program and made the World Cup Team the past three seasons, sliding with Chris Spring and Justin Kripps.
