Patrick Rooney

Patrick a découvert le skeleton par l’entremise de son cousin qui travaille à l’Institut du sport canadien à Vancouver; c’est là où Patrick a complété un camp d’identification de talent. Pas longtemps après, Patrick a fait sa première descente de la piste au Centre des sports de glisse à Whistler, et il a su qu’il avait trouvé son sport parfait.

Athlète naturellement doué, Patrick s’intéressait avant tout au hockey durant son enfance, mais il aimait essayer tous les sports. Après avoir complété ses études au secondaire, il a étudié le génie pendant deux ans avant de se consacrer à temps plein à la poursuite de ses rêves olympiques. Patrick éprouve beaucoup de gratitude envers son cousin qui l’a encouragé à faire carrière comme athlète d’élite. Il ne délaisse pourtant pas ses études; il continue sur son chemin vers un diplôme en gestion de projets.

Quand il n’est pas sur la piste, Patrick s’amuse à aller à la pêche ou à la chasse, jouer au hockey ou au golf, faire des tournées en auto, et apprendre autant que possible.
