This weekend we saw an incredible finish to the midway point of the 2021-22 season.
Canada took gold, silver and bronze medals at the World Cup in Altenberg while Canadians racked up a track full of medals at the North American Cup.

2021-22 Medal Count
Canadian athletes have been sliding onto the international podium across all bobsleigh and skeleton disciplines throughout the 2021-22 season
The medal count was last updated December 20th, 2021.
Christine de Bruin made it to the top of the monobob podium for the first time in her career. She was joined closely by Cynthia Appiah in second place. Melissa Lotholz also finished in ninth.
The women were back on the ice the following day where Melissa Lotholz led the pack, finishing in seventh alongside Sara Villani, de Bruin and Bujnowski in 16th and Appiah and Richardson Wilson in 21st.
The women were not the only ones on the podium this weekend. Justin Kripps was joined by Cam Stones to finish with another bronze medal, before making history of their own with the four-man crew including Ben Coakwell and Ryan Sommer to push one better and finish with a silver medal.
The silver-medal triumph was additionally special for Ben Coakwell who tied Lascelles Brown for the record of most World Cup medals in the four-man competition by a Canadian brakeman with 17.
Chris Spring was joined by Mike Evelyn in the two-man race where they finished very close behind Team Kripps in fourth, and the following day the pair were joined by Cody Sorensen and Cyrus Gray to finish in 15th spot.
Cynthia Appiah heads into the short break in first place overall in monobob and Team de Bruin in sixth in two-women bob. On the men’s side Team Kripps is sitting in second place in four-man and third in two-man and Team Spring is in tenth in the overall standings to finish off 2021.
Mark Lynch and Kyle Murray were back on the ice to finish their 2021 World Cup circuit and finished 27th and 28th respectively. Mirela Rahneva finished in 11th and Jane Channell 24th.
All of our athletes have had an incredible start to the Olympic season as they head for a much-deserved break to prepare for the last few races ahead of the Beijing Olympic Games.

The Lake Placid NAC concluded the 2021/22 NAC circuit and our development team have put on an amazing performance this season winning a total of 43 medals.
Veteran pilots Alysia Rissling and Taylor Austin led the way – Rissling racked up eight golds herself in the women's monobob circuit, winning the overall title. Austin also took home the overall title for the four-man races.
