David Caixeiro

David stumbled into the sport of bobsleigh while doing a sprint workout on the track back in the spring of 2021 when he met Bianca Ribi and Eden Wilson who happened to be there. Advising his two future teammates he was just training for fitness and fun, they suggested he try out for the National Bobsleigh program. Having previously competed in track and field and football, David came to the testing camp that fall, and his new sporting journey began.

One of his early memories that he will never forget was having the privilege of sliding with Chris Spring his first time down the track. It was a trip to Whistler with the Alberta Bobsleigh Association about a month after the 2022 Olympic Winter Games. David’s pilot was supposed to be Orion Edwards, but he got sick and couldn’t slide. Chris Spring happened to be out in Whistler doing Tour rides, and he agreed to take David down for some runs. The experience left a lasting impression on David who won’t forget what a fun and inspiring experience it was for himself as a newbie in the sport.
 

Outside of bobsleigh David can be found riding his motorcycle, crushing some all you can eat sushi or enjoying a good pizza. He also enjoys reading, listening to music, taking a walk or bike ride out in nature, and spending time with friends and family! A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist who has a Bachelor of Kinesiology, David believes that if he wasn’t sliding, he’d likely be pursuing a Masters in Psychology.
