Born and raised in Calgary, Tobi grew with a passion to play all sports. He particularly loved soccer and track and field. Little did he know those early days of play would be the foundational steps towards on a journey towards pursuing an Olympic dream.

During his university days, Tobi sustained an ACL tear which forced him to have ACL reconstructive surgery. Down, but not out, the fire still burned for sport. He initially returned to recreational sport, training to return to his previous level.

He then registered for RBC Training Ground – Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton’s leading recruitment ground – following the recommendation of a friend to truly evaluate his athleticism post operation. Less than one year from his surgery, it was here that Tobi was tapped by Bobsleigh Canada’s coaches to join their national prospect pool.

Tobi followed the path through the door to his newly-discovered sporting journey. A brakeman on pilot Jay Dearborn’s crew where that finished second overall on the North American Cup circuit, Tobi capped off his rookie season helping to push Team Dearborn to a top-20 finish at the 2025 IBSF World Championships.

Did You Know...Tobi balances the pursuit of high-performance excellence by also working full-time as a land development engineer-in-training,designing new communities in and around Calgary with Stantec. He is grateful to his employer for supporting his career both in sport and engineering. Tobi holds a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering rom the University of Alberta...His favourite track is Park City, Utah where the push matters most…He still enjoys playing soccer, gaming (particularly Smash Bros), solving Wordle puzzles and listening to Afrobeats….his driven to earn a spot on Canada’s 2026 Olympic Team, become a licensed professional engineer and inspire younger athletes to pursue both sport and education.
