Josip Brusic began his athletic journey in track and field with the Caltaf Athletic Association in Calgary. Specializing in sprinting, he developed the speed and explosiveness that would later define his skeleton career. After several years in track, his coach encouraged him to try skeleton. He attended a scouting camp in Edmonton, where he met coaches Joe Cecchini and Kevin Boyer, and soon began training in the Ice House. From his first runs, he was drawn to the sport’s precision and speed. Since then, Josip has climbed quickly through the ranks, earning back-to-back Canadian skeleton titles and representing Canada in international competitions. In the fall of 2024, he became a Canadian citizen, marking an important step in his pursuit of Olympic qualification for Milano Cortina 2026.

Outside of competing, Josip works at the Whistler Sliding Centre, maintaining the same ice he competes on. Now, he is fully focused on Olympic qualification, balancing training, competition, and his work on track while continuing to sharpen his speed, technique, and consistency with one goal in mind: representing Canada on sport’s biggest stage.
